Due to weather, we have delayed our plogging event until 1PM. We will meet at the locations outlined below from 1-3PM. Hope to see you out there!
Plogging Event
Keep the good vibes going the day after the race by joining us for a plogging event on Sunday, March 16th, at 1 PM!
What’s plogging, you ask? It’s a super-fun combo of jogging (or walking!) and picking up litter. Together, we’ll give the marathon course a little TLC and make sure we leave no trace behind. This is a great way to stretch those legs, enjoy the community spirit, and do something awesome for the environment. Whether you’re a marathoner, spectator, or just someone who loves the planet, come out and join the cleanup crew!
Meeting Locations
We have several meeting spots where plogging groups will gather before heading out:
📍 Montford – Meet at the Asheville Chamber of Commerce parking lot (View Map)
📍 UNCA/North Asheville – Meet at Weaver Park parking lot (View Map)
📍 River Arts District (RAD) – Meet at New Belgium parking lot (View Map)
📍 Carrier Park – Meet in the parking lot beside the old baseball field near the velodrome (View Map)
📍 Downtown AVL – Meet at Self Help parking lot on Ralph Street (lower lot) (View Map)
📍Downtown AVL - Pack Square Park - Meet in front of stage (View Map)
What to Bring:
Gloves (to keep your hands clean)
Garbage bags (we’ll have some extras)
Safety vest (if you have one)
Trash grabbers/pickers (if you have them)
Bikes are welcome! Some routes will have vehicular traffic, so be mindful if you choose to bike. Walking and jogging are also great options.
What to Pick Up:
Gel tops & wrappers (often torn off and dropped)
Discarded cups from aid stations
Granola bar/snack wrappers
Drink bottles
Route stickers or arrows (peel off or rub with your foot)
Any remaining race signs (bring them back to the meet-up spot)
Note: If you see large, bulky items, please leave them in place—we won’t have space to haul them.
Post-Plogging Meet-Up
After we finish at 3 PM, let’s gather at New Belgium Brewing to celebrate our efforts with a cool drink and some community hangout time. 🍻
