SVCM NeighborCare
Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry

SVCM NeighborCare came to fruition after the success of a short-term, grassroots clinic that spurred after Hurricane Helene, to assist in the Swannanoa Valley, one of the hardest hit areas.

With efforts from Dr. Wes Hite, Nurse Practitioner Ann Marie Hammond, and Athletic Trainer Crystal Shirk and through the utilization of volunteer medical staff, this free clinic is currently open 9am-12pm, two mornings a week, to serve neighbors in the Swannanoa Valley with a certain limited income level. Visits treat basic non-surgical, non-emergency situations, ranging from sickness to wound care, to wellness visits, and other various conditions and needs.

Donations to the program help provide support for additional supplies and cost-free referrals to other specialty medical providers.

Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry appreciates all support provided to this ministry.

United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County

Since its founding in 1921, United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County (UWABC) has been known as a convener — bringing together the necessary people and resources needed to tackle crucial community issues and connect people to the support they need. In order to create lasting change that improves opportunities for future generations, we're committed to working with community partners to do what no one organization can do alone.

When you choose to donate to United Way, you're choosing to join a network of thousands of individuals, organizations, and businesses, all working to co-create a united and resilient community where everyone belongs and everyone thrives. This has never been more important than in the wake of Helene and the devastation it has caused our community.

By supporting the Live United Fund you are ensuring that we continue to:

  1. INVEST critical dollars and technical support in our community partners through grants and contracts, and flexible funding in times of disaster
  2. BRING people and partners together to support students and families, along with resources and information through United for Youth and our 9 Community Schools
  3. MOBILIZE our neighbors to address crucial issues in our community through volunteer service with United Way and community partners through our volunteer center Hands On Asheville Buncombe
  4. CONNECT people to the information they need to navigate a crisis through NC 211
  5. REMAIN ACTIVE in our community's planning around long-term recovery in the aftermath of Helene so that we rebuild our community's resiliency

We thank you for your generous gifts and continued support, but most of all, we thank you for choosing to LIVE UNITED!
