McKinney Insurance | Partner of the Asheville Marathon and Half six years in the making

When you’re in the sports events business and you meet a great sponsor, you hold on to that sponsor for life!

McKinney Insurance is that sponsor. They have been a part of iDaph Events and Timing for six years, and their staff have been supportive and encouraging every step of the way. This year they will be sponsoring once again the Asheville Marathon and Half at Biltmore Estate, and they’ll be at the Race Expo throughout the weekend to share insurance quotes with runners.

“We are thrilled to have them back as a partner for the Asheville Marathon and Half this year,” says Daphne Kirkwood, owner of iDaph Events. “Our relationship has really grown over the past six years, and it is sponsors like McKinney who help us continue to build world class events for our community of runners.”

Chad McKinney, who is the owner of McKinney Insurance, admits he is not a marathon runner. But he is a huge advocate of sports, fitness and healthy lifestyles. Plus, he adds, people with fit lifestyles are going to get better rates when it comes to their life insurance.

“We feel it’s a great organization, and a great event,” says Chad. “We enjoy getting our name out there and to be in the local community.”

Chad and his staff will be providing life insurance quotes at the weekend Expo.

“We handle life insurance and that is something that is based on your specific health,” says Chad. “People that keep themselves in good shape get the best rates on life insurance. That’s something we specialize in.”

McKinney Insurance has been a part of the community since 1981. They have 22 employees and three office locations, and they are now an independent insurance agency that can quote 30 different companies. Instead of having to fit the client to a specific product, McKinney is now able to match the best price and the best product for all of its customers.

“That’s a big change in our organization,” says McKinney. “We can now offer dramatic savings for the exact same coverage, which means we can offer better quotes for runners on life insurance now on long term care than we could before.”

Asheville Marathon Ambassador Lori Reimer
Lori Reimer, who works closely with Chad at McKinney Insurance, is one of our Asheville Marathon Ambassadors and top volunteers. She started running when she was 49 years old (on Valentine’s Day) and has lost 120 pounds due to running. Lori now runs half marathons and full marathons, and you may have seen her at iDaph’s 2020 Frostbite event slinging t-shirts and swag bags.

“Lori is an absolute gem,” says Daphne. “We love having her at our events and as an Ambassador for the Asheville Marathon and Half. Her support is very appreciated.”
