Sarah Robin Reppin' at Big Sur Half Marathon in Monterey, CA

Beginning her running career at an early age, Sarah Sladen is an avid and enthusiastic runner and we’re very excited to have her as a new Asheville Marathon and Half Ambassador! An active participant in the DC running community, Sarah also travels to several runs, up and down the east coast, as well as having lived and run in four countries! Sarah is also an avid biker and can be found cycling the Bike Rack DC. If you like to wear spandex while at the bar, check out her Facebook group Spandex in Bars!

“Having lived and run in six states and four countries, Sarah finds that running is the best way to get to know a place.”

SARAH SLADEN | WASHINGTON D.C.

Bio:

Sarah (33) lives in Washington, DC where she directs an international youth advocacy coalition. She started running in circles at age 11 in North Carolina with The Durham Striders, and continued through college in New England, competing in cross-country and middle distance track & field. Many, many years later in 2012 while helping to raise money for a friend’s charity, Sarah ran her first marathon (Marine Corps – DC). At mile 21, she was convinced it would be her last but finished in 3:23, qualifying for the 2014 Boston Marathon. In April Sarah earned at PR of 3:17, with the help of her training partners, friends and the most epic crowd of Boston supporters she’s ever encountered, anywhere.
Sarah trains during the week with the Pacers Running Store – Logan Circle Fun Run, a Saturday (way, way too early) AM group long-run, and when she’s feeling bold, a group ride with the Bike Rack DC. Having lived and run in six states and four countries, Sarah finds that running is the best way to get to know a place. She is especially grateful to the community of runners she’s met in DC – a tribe of good people who keep things fun, in perspective, and who like Sarah, think it’s OK to wear spandex in bars.
