Paul Laviska in AMA shirt in East Cottonwood UtahA big welcome back to Paul Lavinska, our latest Asheville Marathon and Half Ambassador! Paul was present at our first race on the Biltmore Estate. “The best part for me was that it was my first time ever to the Biltmore Estate.” A very enthusiastic runner, Paul has runner over 60 races, which includes over 20 halves and 13 full marathons. A great guy and an inspiration to be around, you can find Paul at many of the races around the United States, but especially on March 15th at the Asheville Marathon and Half.
“With nearly 60 races under my belt including 20 Half Marathons and 13 Full Marathons, you might say that I am a running addict.”
In his latest article, Paul talks about what many of us can relate to: pre-race jitters. Check it out in Marathon #17! If you take a look at the rest of his blog, Running Wild, there’s a lot of stuff there! From racing glory to rants and raves!
Paul’s getting pumped for the Asheville Marathon & Half coming up! “When I looked at the race website this morning and saw the countdown clock at 50 days, it really got me pumped up! There will be over 1,300 of us runners out there on the grounds of the Biltmore Estate on March 15th, taking in the beautiful scenery, running together through the historic grounds of America’s Largest Backyard.” Look forward to seeing you Paul!
“My running story began in 2008 when a friend randomly talked me into running a 5K. With zero training, I thought I could handle it. I was wrong, and it hurt.”

Tell us about your Asheville Marathon and Half Experience! “I did run the inaugural Asheville Marathon. The best part for me was that it was my first time ever to the Biltmore Estate, so running through some great history was a big deal. Mile 6 turning the corner for my first ever view of the house, incredible! I snapped a photo! Had to! I couldn’t be more pleased to return.”
How about your race experience? “With nearly 60 races under my belt including 20 Half Marathons and 13 Full Marathons, you might say that I am a running addict.”
How was your Fall 2014 season? “My busy Fall season included a BQ at The Big Cottonwood Marathon in Utah this September, a dream-come-true Chicago Marathon run in October, followed by the Greensboro Marathon, and City of Oaks Half Marathon with my 16 year old son. Yes, all before Thanksgiving. “
How do you fuel during the run? And after? “I power my way through races with GU energy gels, and love anything salty at the finish. Chocolate milk, Diet Coke and pizza are my favorite.”
