Important Race Announcement
Due to the current state of COVID-19, Biltmore Estate leadership is not comfortable with outdoor events taking place on the property in the winter/spring of 2022 and have revoked our event privileges. We are deeply saddened and disappointed that our community of endurance runners will not have an opportunity to race on the estate this spring. We were all eagerly looking forward to returning to the estate for these races.
Our team is pivoting the race planning to our back-up race location. We are working closely with the City of Asheville for both races to be moved to Downtown Asheville, North Carolina. Both the Asheville Marathon and the half marathon will take place on Saturday, March 19, 2022. The official race route is being finalized with the city and will be released as soon as possible.
Training for a half and a marathon is a journey with a ton of energy, time and sacrifice – and we totally get that! We know you all are on your way already and are revved up and ready to race again. So, hang in there and know that we are committed to working with the City of Asheville to bring you the most memorable and enjoyable downtown marathon and half running experience in March.
Runners have several options:
Option 1: Stay in the Race – Downtown AVL: Stay registered in the race and still get a $30 refund for the estate ticket fees. Refunds for the estate ticket fee will begin to be issued via Race Roster starting the week of January 31, 2022. It may take 5-10 business days for you to see this refund on your credit card statement.
Option 2: Cancel and Refund: Get your registration fee and any other items you may have purchased through registration refunded to you and your race registration will be cancelled. Selecting this option you will no longer be registered for the race. Unfortunately, we cannot refund the credit card processing fee.
Option 3: Move to the Virtual Half or Marathon: Move your in-person entry to a virtual entry and participate in the race wherever you live, whenever you want. Post your results online, get the swag mailed to you.
Next steps:
- If you do not select an option, we will cancel your entry and refund your registration fee and any other items you may have purchased during online registration on Monday, January 17th at midnight.
- All registered runners must select either option 1, 2 or 3 by Sunday, January 16th at midnight.
