Christine Hetzel hatfieldmccoyhorsepicWe are so pleased to have Christine Hetzel returning as an Asheville Marathon Ambassador for 2015! Christine sure knows how to move! She’s on a mission to complete a half marathon in each of the 50 states, as well as training for an Olympic Triathlon in Florida!

Christine’s excitement and enthusiasm can be seen in her blogs, found at FloridaRumRunner! In addition to a great photo album showing some of the many reasons that being a runner in Florida doesn’t suck, Christine writes an enthusiastic response to being accepted as an AM&H Ambassador! Find her at the race in 2015!

“So imagine with great glee how excited we were to find out that there is indeed a race on the Biltmore Estates AND that they were recruiting ambassadors!  I immediately applied and WHAT?!?!?!? Was accepted last week.  I immediately celebrated with a happy dance and then a drink…followed by a run the next day! haha!”

Hi Christine! Tell us about yourself and your running experience: “Hola! I’ve fallen madly in love with running and my first half marathon was at Wine and Dine almost 3 years ago, since then I have run 13 halves, 1 full Chicago 2013, and several smaller distances.”

What do you have your sights on right now? “I’m currently training for my first Olympic Triathlon Rocketman at the Space Center in Florida along with several other halfs. I’m a member of the Half Fanatics and recently started to work on running a half in each of the 50 states.

How do you serve the local community? “I serve on the board of directors for Girls on the Run, and am very active within my community.”

Anything else to say? “I’m beyond ecstatic to be running the Asheville Half Marathon at the Biltmore Estate next year and cross off this epic race from my bucket list.”

Finally, what’s your favorite post run food? “I prefer to refuel with coconut water and bananas after my runs, and LOVE the Honey Stinger Waffle cookies in vanilla or honey and have been known to nosh on those even when there isn’t a run in sight.”
